Took my Idea into Courts in Manchester after an intermittent engine light issue.
They said it seems to need new spark plugs. Which is fine, I’ll get some and fit them.

The mechanic, however has worried me. He thinks that the growl-y clatter from 1-2k revs could be a bearing in the bottom end and it would need an engine rebuild.

Anyone know about this kind of thing? If need be I can make a recording and put it on youtube.

I've knowticed it since they fitted a new timing belt last year.

Shouldnt think its anything to do with the belt fitting. Unless one of the plastic covers/engine mounting has been put back slightly incorrectly or out of line.

I would be slightly worried that the engine light came on due to plugs, as they are meant to last a couple of oil services anyway so maybe it hasnt had much attention in the past.
More likely would be a coil or leads I imagine.

If its been like it for a year and not changed I guess you should carry on using it.
