After seeing the motors on sunday i need to upgrade my ICE so withthe willing help of Mr. Credit Card i am!

Just a few questions that i need answering,

1) Been looking at the MAC-MX4000 amp (same as Tafi's) This has Pre Outs - are these the same as radio pre put where it can be linked directly to a second amp with out running more cables from headunit?

2)The above amp would be running Comps in the front hopefully with tweeters, and coax in the rear - Which are recommended that fit into the standards places? (apart from tweeters) i may copy Tafi and wimmy on that one as long as thats ok)

3) If i don't copy Tafi & wimmy on tweeters is it worth and would it sound any good if a custom built them into the footwells?

4) The power a sub alone - would a mono amp be best fitting or should i go for a 2 channel bridgeable or something else?

5)Wiring amps - Am i right in thinking 40amp fuse is for upto 300watt?

Thanks in advance fella's and gal's

1) yes
2) 13cm or 16cm both with adaptors
3) no, in the door would be best
4) what sub are you getting?
5) no, 480watts

Re: Re: ICE

Tafi - i have no idea for a sub yet the Mac amp will cost me £130 and i'm looking to total that upto about £300 with the coax and comps, Don't want to loose all the space in the boot though so either going to make a flase floor to the right hand side so i can still get access to spare wheel, Thus the enclosure space for sub would have to fit in that

Re: Re: Re: ICE

You should really buy an amp to match your sub and not the other way round.

If you have £300 for comps and coaxals try these.

mono amps are only worth buying if they are top end amps or class d. stick with a 2 channel and you then have some flexibility. a d class amp would be nice if you were spendin lots of cash as they have a higher damping facter meaning your sub is tighter and sounds better. we are talking £350 plus though. may i also recommend JL audio (jlaudio.com) 10 or 12in W3 series subs. they are a very modest 250W rms each but i know for a fact they can take 300 - 400W rms from an amp. also play very deep for their size and the 10in has almost 15mm excursion (which is very good) so it will be very loud for one woofer. my dealer has two 10W3s in a sealed box with a JL 250.1 amp (d-class) runnin each and they will not quit. much louder and cleaner than any other subs ive heard. trust. as for component speakers buy focal polyglass 165v2's. nothing sounds like em at their price (£250). they are 60W rms but this is no indication of how loud or good they sound. trust man!

get urself kick pods built with 6" / 5" & tweeter together (the sound stage is much better). if ur goin 3 way then put the smaller driver in the original door space (to save cost)...

all these things depend on budget. email me if u want more info.
