Hi,

Been planning months and getting the money together and finally i started modding the interior to get my speakers and such in. I have actually built the carputer already and waiting on the screen. Some taster pics for you:

With my new XRs from JL audio they come with flush mount tweeter kits, so i jsut had to use them

I also managed to get my switches which cut the power to the computer and allow me to turn off the carputer. Although my new Opus power supply does this for me, I dont trust it :)

This is my case i made for my carputer:

Nice!
Got my tweaters there too. Couldn't really figure on a more logical place for them. Wasn't too happy about cutting into the door section though!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: >> Ice install first pics...

Looking good m8...:)

Won't putting your tweeters in that position interfere with the OEM ones? (But they do look good there :))

You Carputer is coming along well, at first i thought your case was an x-box, but it looks like its made of wood?

Any idea where your going to mount the case and the screen?

What will be the use for your computer?

Keep up the good work :)

If you wasn't happy putting the tweeters into the door why not fit them in the stock location? I did took about half hour and the wiring is easier than the door!

:) Bravo my son Bravo!! :)

Hi,

@ Dean - yeah i originally thought i could use the dash mount things jl provide aswell - but they didn't look as good as the flush mount ones. Thought I might aswell go the whole hog.

@ Daz - Im not using the OEM tweeter location as I couldn't figure out how to attach the tweeter in place of the OEM one there. I might get some mids later on and do a 'Tom' :) . I made the carputer box out of mdf and then used mdf filler on the front to give a curvy front - took alot of sanding tho. Then just primed the bugger and sprayed it using matt spray paint. The case is going in the boot with the rest of my ice - ill gets sum pics up hopefully mondayu eve when I next tackle it. The screen, yeah thats the main problem, haven't sorted that out yet. The primary use for the carputer is mp3s going to be using media car / media engine maybe winamp.

@ Sy-B-Bolton - Yeah that was my original plan - but I couldn't figure out how to attach them in there.

Regards

John

The start of my tweeter builds

Quite a bit of body filler on those ;) You can guess what comes next.

Looking good! (Both John and Tom :) )
Couldn't figure how to remove/replace the original tweeters (guessing u mean the ones on the dash), but have no regrets about their current location. Mine do look rather good, sat in their flush upwardly position. The main thing is that the sound from them is great whether the windows are up or down. Had a deal to replace the mids in the doors (as at the time i had no-idea) and now have the cross-over box in the door holder things (?!).
Anyway almost to the last stages of my install (in the boot) and i've got a feeling it'll look pretty good!

Just done the first layer of CF on the a-pillars, they are looking sweet!

Boot build is coming together too, and I can STILL get the spare out!
