Hi all, i'm fed up with not having a boot so i want to scrap me current setup and replace it with new speakers all round to replace the fiat ones and a small 10" sub in the boot all driven off a 5/6 channel amp.

I've been looking at amps and i have noticed that the 4 channels seem to be about 50watt rms and the sub channel about 150watt rms. Is this enough to do what i want? I don't want a boy racer loud stereo but i don't want to spend loads on an amp to be dis-satisfied by it!

Any opinions welcome!

That should be plenty seeing as you dont want it too loud. Why not get what seems to be the fiat aftermarket amp - the JBL GTO6000. 6 channel amp and can be found on the net for around £130!

Re: Re: Ice Advice

i can't understand why that amp is priced so low! In my opinion JBL are a reasonable make but equivalents by other people seem to be £250 plus! Whats the difference?

With the JBL do you run 3 RCS's from the head unit, one front channel, one rear and one sub? and can you set the crossovers and gains for each pair of channels seperately?

Re: Re: Ice Advice

i got in mine, front door speakers JBL GTO 5x7 running off normal cables, added read speaker 13CM JBL GTO using normal cables, running a JBL GTO 2000 AMP to run an ALPINE TYPE E 12" sub, i use a sony cdx-730m flip down thingy majiggy, setup is the key thing, i run NO ADDED BASS, TREBLE, no nothing, no loadness no equalizer crap, just cranked up the sub out and it is fine enought for me, makes my gelled hair move on some songs, and clear as a whistle,

hope this helps,

Smee

Re: Re: Re: Ice Advice

Yes to all q's. The reason they are so cheap at the mo is because a new range will be coming out.

Re: Re: Re: Ice Advice

Sounds ok smee. I might just replace the sub using one of the amps i have and door speaks off the hu for the moment then. Just make sure my build would accomodate a larger amp at a later date when i can be bothered to run new wires from teh doors

Re: Re: Re: Re: Ice Advice

to further the discussion...

i want to take up as little boot space as possible with the sub so i want to make a sealed box. I also want a 10" speaker, any recomendations for a 10" that likes a small box?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ice Advice

I've heard the JBL's (Wimmy's) and they sound awesome, especially seeming they are half price at the moment...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ice Advice

hmmm, 6 channel input. might have to upgrade the HU too, mine only does 4 and one of those has died :(

still she's served me well!!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ice Advice

My HU only has 4. I have an RCA splitter at the back to feed into the amp.

6 would be better from the HU. One to look out for when I can aford to upgrade
