Hi all
After pulling my hair(wots left of it ) out deciding what to to get to give my Brava a punchy bassy sound,I've decided that i'll invest in a 12" JBL 1000w(250 rms)sub & enclosure, powered by a 1000w amp.I already have a decent set of components up front.
I have a 360w max amp wiring kit installed at the moment which I think wont do for the setup I'm trying to achieve.
Can I have some advice please on what to actually buy to acheive the sound I'm after..?

Thanks a lot
Pete.

Cheers Luke
I only have the room for one being a family guy. What do think of the JBL 1000w 12"sub + enclosure matching wattage amp with a 4 guage wiring kit.
As I've got decent components already up front is this likely to create the bass I'm looking for.(forget the comps up front)?

Thanks as usual for your help
Pete

I've not heard the JBL sub to comment, but seems to be a common choice for sub...

And 4 guage wiring should be plenty enough for the 1000w amp.

The sub should knock a fair bit, but its still only 250RMS, check the RMS rating of the amp. If the amp is fairly efficience you're looking at about 500w RMS if its 1000w MAX. In which case, you'll blow the sub pretty quickly.

Try the pioneer 12" sub (the plain back one with the carbon fibre style cone with silk screened logo), they bang for a cheap unit :) I had the 10" version @ 600w and that went. Since i've got 2 800w (400RMS) kenwood 12" and thats alot of bass for a shopping trolley, but still prefered the 10"

My brother just bought that exact same kit peterp - will be fitting it in his 309 over the weekend. The sub has been mounted in the box and playing off my PA amp indoors all evening, sounds pretty good.
Can't comment on the amp or wiring kit so far.....

JBL are rated very low in RMS, but will go very very high before you can damge them. I think it was a max power tested a group of subs till they exploded (literally) and the JBL was top in its class. Brilliant buy for the money. (y)

That setup isnt bad for the budget buy. The only thing like luke said, the set-up is only as good as its weakest point, which in this setup is the crappy autoleads. Get them replaced. And for Speaker wiring use Gale House speaker wiring from somewhere like richer sounds. Twice as good for half the money. (y)
