I think I'd prefer a diesel but I'm not too bothered.
Here's the spec of the one for £4595 from a dealer which is a petrol model:

2002 02 Reg FIAT MULTIPLA 1.6 16v ELX, 6 SEATER
Manual 5 speed, . Finished In Blue Metallic, With Contrasting Cloth Interior, PAS, ABS, Airbags, Electric Windows & Mirrors, Aircon, Climate, Remote Central Locking, Twin Electric Sunroofs, Alloys, Front Foglamps, Rear Headrests, Headlamp Wash Stereo etc..Really Nice MPV, With 65,000 Miles & FSH, NOW ONLY £4,595.

I've just been looking on Auto Trader at Multipla's that are further afield than 100 miles and it seems that 02 reg one at £4595 isn't quite the bargain I thought it was. There's similar ones going for five or six hundred quid less. (y)

As a vehicle for performing a job the Multipla is unmatched. The Honda FRV is NOT a real six seater and most seven seaters(Zafira) rely on pitching the middle seats forward, which of course is impossible if child seats are in them....hense a four seater.

Mine handles very well,is fun to drive and returns a very good mpg. My concerns about the future of or the the future Multipla are these. I recently had a Kia MPV as a hire car and internally in every way it was better built and equiped.

The Kia i was ready to write off as was my passenger but were suprised at its levels of equipment(cruise, climate that works, a sixth gear, a CD/Radio of not below average quality) and it's build quality.

If i had to buy and MPV again i would buy a Mutipla,if for no other reason than the Honda doesn't do the job.

I have spoken to quite a few Fiat engineers on my quite a few visits to sort out niggles, and to be frank they to a man wrote off all the Fiat range apart for the Panda and the Multipla. Apparently the Multipla is made in factory crewed entirely by women and has always historical been so!

Mine is a 2006 model.

ps in the manual it mentions ESP in countries where it is fitted. Are we being short changed(UK)?

One thing I am interested to know after I read it on here is can you deactivate the front airbag on all models? That would come in handy just incase the double buggy doesn't fit in the boot as I could put one baby seat up front and one in the back.

You could put the baby seat in the middle front seat as the Multipla has six 3 point belts (y)

Just been browsing Auto Trader and stumbled across this one, I haven't got the money yet plus it's nearly 200 miles away but it goes to show you how pimped they can look with 17" alloys. :worship:

If this Multipla was black with red interior and had dark tints it would look great! :slayer:

Well today I put a deposit down on a Multipla! :slayer:

It's an 02 reg, 1.6 ELX. It has full service history, 65k on the clock, a cambelt change 2000 miles ago and will come with a full MOT. (y)

It's cost me £4500 which seems about right for a 2002 model, I pick it up next Saturday - here's some piccies.....

Just had a thought:

When I come to installing a new headunit (can't believe an 02 reg car with two electric sunroofs comes with a cassette player) will I need to buy one of these facia things or will the new headunit fit straight in?

I've seen a few Multipla CD headunits, will one of these fit or are the new shape Multiplas different?

You will need to buy the fascia, I've seen a few on various auction sites for around £9.

Regarding the alloys, I searched and searched to find my almost immaculate 2002 Multipla, one of the reasons I bought the one I did was the lovely unblemished alloys, unfortunately these didn't last long a month after buying it my wife dropped me off at the kerbside and NOOOOOOOO!!! I hear the haunting grating, chipping, crunching noise !!! and yes goodbye immaculate alloys, aaahhh well! it was bound to happen sooner or later. Needless to say my wife blamed the extremely wide girth of the Multipla, to which I reminded her of the splendid split level mirrors, one of which is excellent for viewing such things as kerbs!

I must admit after having kids I don't tend to get irate about cosmetic things any more, I certainly used to in times gone by... After returning home with a gleaming new Nissan Primera (second hand but the newest and shiniest car I had ever owned), I jumped out of the car and proudly activated the central locking, started through the doorway at home, looked back to see my 9 year old son greeting me, quickly leaning his bike against the front of the new car!, then slowly and methodically the bikes bare metal handlebar gently weaves down the bonnet as the bike slides to the floor, leaving what looks like a snails attempt at slalom skiing down the bonnet!!!!!! How I love that Boy!!

I now try and concentrate on the practicality/reliability of a vehicle, hence the Multipla.

Well I've had my Multipla a week and no problems to report. :D The missus is 8 months pregnant and hasn't driven it yet, this is how come there's no new scratches and no marks on the alloys. Give it another month and I bet it'll be covered in scrapes. (n)
