I want to fit 15" wheels to my 998cc L reg cinquecento. Lookink for some tips from people that may have fitted 15's before. How did you acomplish this?

So far I have figured out that i need alloys with 4x98 fitment. And that i need to put a tyre of about 195/50/15 or 195/45/15 (rarer) for good wheel arch clearance.

The offsets are more confsing though.. i have done lots of research to find out what the standards offets are for my car, including on this site. It appears that all the sites listing such information have just copied off each other which would be useful if they actually said the exact offset insetad of making mistic meg statements like 27-38 (not at all helpful). someone from this forum suggests they are 27.5 but said he wasnt sure.

Most 15's are coming with about 35 to 38 (of what ever the units are) offset. So i guess i will need spacers. how big?

If someone has made this mod before using 15's please tell me what size offsets were on new alloys and what size spacers you used, and what size tyres.. and any other info you think will be useful thanks.

Thanks for answers so far. boo ! to ideas of 14's lol. because my wheels are 145/70/13 the overall diameter is 533.2mm. If i get 15's with 195/45/15 the overall diameter will be 556.6mm... just 23.4mm difference meaning the ride hight will only be 11.7mm higher off the ground. The difference in tyre width on each corner will give a massive amount of tyre touching the ground to aid stability and give a wider stance, cant see it toppeling over.

I'd not do it on an 998. It's not going to help acceleration, you don't need that kind of grip, your insurance will kill you.

But, first lower it, then fit an anti roll bar. Don't go wider than 6J. 195/45/15 make the most sense: Marangonis are cheap and sticky. The FAQ prepared by Custard is bang on, but this quote tells most of it
you buy some spanking Compomotive Mo's in 14" @ 6J wide.
they have an offset of ET35 so you fit 8mm spacers on the front
bringing the offset down (you take the spacer size off the offset
. So, et35 fit the rears perfectly, but you'll need 8mm spacers at the front. On 15s, you'll almost certainly need some arch work as well.

Use hubcentric spacers and a stud conversion.

My feelings:

13" Sporting wheels and tyres (with lowering, ARB, etc) suit the 988 best. 14" on low profile tyres would be OK.

14s suit tweaked cars: alot of the turbos are running 195/45/14.

15s are for hi boost turbos only.

I think Fingers is thinking Mini, rather than cento.

To the OP, 15s can be made to fit, but you wil go slower and use lots more fuel going slower.

14s are a reasonable compromise, try and get 175/50 or 165/50 tyres to kkep drag to a minimum.

Cheers

Hmm... i think Hyper ross has 15" wheels on the sporting, with 10mm spacers at front but no arch work done.

Being a 899cc, i think 14 or 15 is slow you down wayy too much , just base on the fact they are heavier wheels.

As suggested, i would go for sporting wheels or other 13" wheels, with spacer, lower it. That is what i done and it handles like a dream !!!!

Forgot to say, check with insuance first !!! I had a 10% increase due to me lowering the car !!! Might not be for you, so best to check !!!

almost...the black ones got 15's on 195/45/15 15mm spacers all round, with no arch work, scrubs on the rear over bumps, but apart from that no major issues, altho its not lowered.

my purple on is lowered with arch work running 15's on 165/50/15, no scrubbing, but some scrubbing on the 195/45/15.
