i Know it a common question BUT

I only bought my 1242cc W Reg Brava yesterday, i drove it from wolverhampton too Portmouths last night, the heating didnt work the entire way (only blowing cold) the last 20 miles or so the temp gage was like a rev counter. loads of people have told me today that my head gasket is on its way out.
i have taken it into a Fiat dealer. should i expect the worsed ???????
or could it be something else ????

If all of the "loads of people" were FIAT mechanics then you might be right to worry.
If you understand FIATS and Bravo/a a little you would know that the Temp dial has a tendancy to jump about of its own free will - recognised as a loose connection in the dash board. Not so easy fix, but possible.

The cold air issue could be as simple as a air pocket in the coolant system and can be fixed by yourself.

I'd cancel the FIAT guys, check for air in the system first, if no improvement, then panic, then calm down and take the car to a reputable non-FIAT dealership for repairs.

Buy a Haynes manual first and read the section on replacing the engine coolant.
