Maybe the previous owner changed mine (fingers crossed!)

Luckily (he he) by the time I got her the Turbo and clutch had been replaced  (Mind you with the G-Tech timing thingy, I may need a new clutch in a couple of weeks time, it's really harsh on the clutch for a 0-60 dash ;) )

ive looked into repairing cracked manifolds on other cars (its a common fault on smart cars, and my mates currently has a few cracks in his)

exhaust putty doesnt work, even on the smart with tiny little cracks it just all dropped off.

welding is not recomended as it'll end creating stronger bits, which will then pull the other bits apart again. i had it explained to me properly, but i cant remeber the specifics, just that its not a good idea!

is the manifold and turbo a complete unit, on the smarts it is. cracked fannymould = new turbo time. if it is, time to get a bigger one :D

Sammi, I've not read the fccuk thread  , but I think Rog at Powerfiat does a new one (fitted) for £400. For the price I seen secondhand ones go for, you'd be best off trying to get that done - has he opened up in Leeds yet?

Sorry to hear about this, but 104k on the first one doesn't sound bad :)

i spoke to rog but he cant fit me in till the 19th at the earliest so called a garage that brickfoot told me about in hull and they are doing it for me on friday for not much more :)

just still hugely annoyed at daz for doing the dirty on me

I don't beleive ya sammi, I think you won the lottery!! Let's see, in one month, we have £600 sorting your bottom and skirts, then £300? for new manifold = £900, before insurance, petrol etc.

So how much did you win? Good to see you could have chose a ferrari etc but chose a Sprint blue coop, that's commitment :p

had the car done yesterday at woodcock garage in Hull

am pleased with the work and allan is a very nice guy, we had a good chat about fiats, he has work on fiats over 18 years and seems to know his stuff, he also sell them too, on his forecourt there were quite a few cars - all fiats.

so i dropped car off and went into town and did some shopping and went to hairdressers too for a new do :p

i would def use the place again esp with them being fiat specialist and they charge a reasonable price too :)

it gave me the chance to test the chip on way home too :woot:

past few days i have been thinking the manifold might be on its way out again ...... and i am pretty certain it is cracked

it was only done three months ago... a brand new one put on.. well gutted :( will have to call the garage next week to find out what i can do cos i cant justify it going so soon

Feck  That sucks. You aren't having any look are you sammi  Definetly check if you have kept the receipt, as brickfoot said there should be some sort of warranty?

My car is currently off the road, I was driving back from work last Tuesday, when I heard an almighty bang and the front left wheel seemed to lock up, tons of tyre smoke and I was steering into oncoming traffic
Luckily managed to stop. Got out immediately to see what's next in the exciting coupe ownership world  To see the wheel facing the wrong way, the wheel was turned gone 90 degrees and a massive oily puddle was appearing from the area. (n)
Turns out the lower wishbone had give way and the driveshaft had been forced out of the gearbox. It was disconnected and it had been dragging along the road hanging on by the suspension.
got on the phone to the AA, after 2 hours (!) someone arrived, took one look at it, and said it needed to be stuck onto the back of a low-loader :( A further two hour wait  and finally the low-loader arrived.
The chap managed to pop the driveshaft back into the gearbox, and attached the wishbone. Now the coupe could move he loaded it up on the low-loader and we were off.
It's not as bad as I thought, the gearbox was not damaged (thank FCCUK!!) and it just needs new wishbones, transmission oil and an oil seal. I'm getting the garage to fit the eibach's at the same time so it should be lower than a snake's belly when it is better.

Coupe's hey, don't ya just love em :p

your lucky, had the same thing happen on a 5 GT turbo and the wheel ripped up the wing as well:(

Here's a piccy of the damage. Looks like my wheel's on full lock but you can see where the wishbone has disconnected from the wheel. Lucky this happened at 25MPH and I wasn't on the motorway. I know it sounds melodramatic but if I still worked for Airbus in Broughton I would be travelling home at 75MPH + on the motorway when this problem materialised. Would I have caused a multi car pile-up on the A55? I shudder to think! I know it didn't happen because I work so close to home but was this an accident wating to happen? my only warning sign was a slight shudder moving off the drive in the morning for a week or so.
Just shows you have to listen to your car

yup thats exactly how mine looked but with a crunched up wing:(
i was very lucky as well, was turning onto the city bypass(for anyone who knows edinburgh)but it was a second gear 90 degree bend to join the slip road when it broke.
very embaressing having to guide the traffic round me as i waited for the breakdown truck though lol

well called the garage that fitted it, they said its still covered under warrenty :)

BUT

they want me to go to them so they can have a look to make sure it is the manifold.... then order the part and then me come back for it to be fitted. which wouldnt be too bad but the garage is in hull

meaning i would have to book two days off work and make two trips up there (n)

massive pain in the arse :(

bloody hell matt - hope it doesnt work out too costly

look at it this way, at least it's saving you a massive repair bill

How about a foot long steak and cheese sub meal? Not gonna cost the earth and should even last a Subway monster like yourself a good few ?minutes? :D
Then again looking at John Prescott I don't suppose Hull has many healthy fast food outlets :p

My coupe is running sweet and is back on the road again  I have the new Toyo Proxes T1-R's on the fronts and it sticks to the road like baby poo to a nappy.
I have total coupe paranoia at the mo tho so Still taking it easy and listening out for any unhealthy noises (apart from a little run-in with an evo tonight ;) )
