other possible way of handling it is to try and agree to the third party to get a quote then you pay the garage/ smart repair company to do the repair that way its fixed.... and she cant spend the money on anythign else and not get it fixed

I'd play it like at least this way "if i pay the garage you know i'm not going to tell you to get lost and not pay you when you have got it fixed"

it also gives you the chance to discuss the repair with the garage so you do not end up paying over the odds for the oh whilst its in and seen as she is paying can you do this that and the other ;)

how many MOT places do you know of that do body repairs?

I would pay for a smartrepair,(ie i would pay the person to do the job not give her cash)

Or i wouldn't pay anything at all.

Thanks for taking the time to comment tenpastnine, think smart repair is looking favourite if I HAVE to pay for it.

Yeah thanks Andy, I did wonder who she was taking the car to for its MOT when she said the same person woulf look at the bodywork!!! Smart repair with me paying directly seems the way to go if I HAVE to. cheers

My car is a grande punto, 1.9 diesel, really smart car I love it. 56 plate.

Notice how quickly some (<25yo?) advise the `Foxtrot Oscar’ theory - but then they don’t own the problem. Many I’m sure live with a childish delusion that they can damage property & nobody will damage their’s. Put that naïve theory to the test – but consider you may sow a wind, that reaps a whirlwind.

Last week a supermarket push-trolley that was left on the pavement by an idiot customer rolled down and hit my parked Brava denting it in the front left side. Called up the management of the supermarket who told me it's their company policy to let customers take away trolleys to carry their shopping to their front door. No compensation whatsoever was offered. :(
