A while ago some of you may remember me trying to fix the backlight L.E.D's on my electric window switches - i decided to complete the circuit and make a temporary fix with a lead pencil - and it worked!!!

I have since got my hand on a soldering iron and managed to not only get all 3 LED's (1 on passenger side and two on mine) to blow!! but now, they wont even let me open and close my windows!!!

Can anyone help me in finding 3 new (or secondhand) switches? I just need the plastic boxes that sits under the button - i have no idea what they are called or if they have a part number or anything!

Its for a Bravo 1.4 SX

Any help would be greatly appreciated folks - cant even get hold of FIAT at the mo but I suspect they're well expensive.

Hope to hear from everyone sooooooon!

MORAL OF THE STORY? "If it aint broke, dont fix it"

scrappy will sort you out mate!

and unlucky - well in for trying - that's the beauty of doing custom mods i spose - some come off and work and others end up costing you even more money :(

you'll get it sorted though! (plus it's too cold to have windows down at the mo!) :)

I live in Mile End (E3) anyone know of good scrappies around the area - will even ring further afield ones if they are willing to post them.

But a prat with balls, good luck m8!

I am going to attempt the same thing in the next week or two, so any guidance would be greatly appriciated :)

Errrmmmmmmmm

Have my teaching taught u nothing my son? DONT DO IT!! Getting to it them is easy but you have to know what the hell you're doing - i didnt - and i was very very very very careful. I dont know what i could have done better!!!

Try it with a lead pencil first!

PS - When you muck it up let me know where u got your spares from!! ;)

LOL :)

After virtualy rewiring my whole car (long story :(), i think i should be able to manage a few switches ;) (Famous last words...)

Are they surface mount or standard LED's...or even normal bulbs?

Where does the green hue come from? (Is it part of the switch, as i suspect, or green LED's)

Hopefully i won't have any problems as my Bro is a fully qualified lecky with all the equipment, but you never know...

Hopefully i will be able to do a nice write up with pics...

mine are surface mounted green LED's - but dont look like the ones u saw at school.

good luck mate - im still looking for breakersw yards.

Ady,
Am I right in thinking you're after the sort of triangular shaped plastic mounts that the electric window switches fit in ?
If so I believe I've got a pair in the shed that you can have for the cost of the p+p.

Gav

Gav, theres about 3 of us gonna be needing them soon :D got more?

Then again, i'm kinda glad i haven't been to maplin for that soldering iron yet...

Got a soldiering iron, just waiting for a very fine point for the end of it...

As soon as it arrives, look out Bravo :)

Fun?

You obviously as good as telling the future as you are fitting rear ARB's ;)

I can forsee hours of painstaking graft coupled with a huge amount of swearing and knuckle scraping followed by f*ck it, that will have to do :)

Cheers for the offer Gav but the ones i got are fine - i just needed three new switches - the black boxes that the craddle switch sits on - and where the led's are mounted - thanks for the offer though matey - very good of you.

Will be posting a new thread re: this in an hour or so.

cheers
