hub nut usually have a indented bit make sure you hammer it out so it is free from the catch. Put the wheels back on the attached the socket and breaker bar, and crank the hub nut loose. Also if somebody can help you to put the brake on while you crank the hub nut loose could be a help also.
The important bits are to de-stake the nut with a hammer and punch (a nearby body shop may have an air chisel which will do it very quickly) and to have all 4 wheels on the ground -- brake on, in gear -- when you loosen the nut.
If still stuck, slip a peice of scaffold tube on the end of the breaker bar.
easy peasy,removed staking from nut with cold chisel,lowered car to ground ,put breaker bar on ,attached bmx handlebars,jumped on handlebars and bolt came off,works everytime!
I usually stick the space saver on and use a breaker bar and a 5 foot scaffold pole... like cutting through butter with a red hot knife! Who needs to remove the staking? Then again, i was replacing the drive shaft anyways
