Tuning Hp to reach Punto 60 Mods

I'm not dutch, but i live in holland .. but yea they have a forum for holland cinquecento owners, but the problem is that they are not that active on their forums then this site. More members means more experience to share with other members, if u get what i'm saying :D.

What are your whereabouts then?

Curently i have the 1.1 sporting engine and im getting the feeling that the engine isnt far from her death. Instead of taking it out and overhauling the 1.1 i prefer buying a punto 60 engine overhaul it port & polish the engine insert the cam, in other words making it ready for when its done its just get old engine out get new punto 60 in.

That way the car wont be standing still and i can stil get to work.

Exactly what my situation was and what I did ;) But I did go all the way to turbo, but neglected proper head and TB work. Reasons: the head was (is even after machining and service) in not so good condition, so I decided not to waste my time on it, and TB is really easy to get out and work on it anytime I want.

My serious advice: think about doing turbo from the start. I was also planning to first just swap the engine with new parts in, go factory n/a and then build the turbo. But then I started calculating and thinking. Money wise it is going to be (and it was indeed) a disaster either way. Time and workwise I would double my efforts going n/a first and then turbo. I had the engine in the basement so I figured it would be soooo much easier to build all the bits in comfy conditions than in the car. And it all worked out. All in all I managed to stay with the car off road for only a week, and that was only because the whether blocked me, otherwise it would be running within 3 days. My thread is here if you are interested:

Now going to go and do yet another stress test ride :D :D :D

Nice project, im think abou the spi punto 60 engine, just some minor mods, overhaul new seals tensioner packings, punto 75 cam and exhaust manifold a exhaust kinda like yours deppending how it sounds.

The 1.1 engine i have now leaks oild from the headgasket and valvecover idles bad and turns off when i brake at the lights.. funny bit not really a engine i can deppend on :(

Oh and im from almere (y)

oil from the HG? is it from ontop of the water pump or on that side ?

if so the rocker cover can leak from the end without you seeign it down the side of the block and across the water pump making it look like that nothing a bit of silicone sealer didn't fix

Now I also have middle silencer (not on the pics), it is still loudish on high revs for my taste, was hoping for something more quiet, but come to think of it, the old factory one was also screaming like hell above 4500 rpm.

turns off when i brake at the lights..

That can as well be due to a fault stepper motor. Had this myself after conversion.

Cool, but far anyhow ;)

Cant really see it that well, think cleaning up the engine would make it easier for me to see, found out yesterday that one of the fuel lines cracked a bit and leaks, so need to fix that fix before i become a suicide bomber .

I saw a few punto 60 engines spi on our local vending site, and there is a fiat dealer not far from my home, so i can start buying some parts. But i still dont know if i still need to extend the punto 75 exhaust manifold or if the cam is just bolt on and uses sporting 1.1 cam gear or same timing.

Obv not, if you are using the P75 engine and P75 exhaust mani .. IT will clear the sump as the mani is made for the engine.

Yes you can use the P75 cam in the 1.1 engine.

My cento is a SPI engine and i wont be using the P75 engine, i'm using the P60 engine with P75 cam an P75 exhaust manifold cuase it is 4-2-1, wich i read would be a bit better then the 4-1 that the P60. Just wondering what cam gear i have to use, the sporting 1.1 one the p60 one or p75 one?

The only reason needs spacers on the conervsion because they are using the cinq exhuats mani. but with P60 and P75 both 1242, they are the same height so the mani will work on both.

By cam gear you mean cam pulley yeah ? Then just the came pulley that matches the sprocket, so if you got a cam pulley for the P60 then use that.

The later P60 already has the P75 cam fitted already.

Later as from what year? So the later punto 60 engine's are better and give better preformance then the early 60 engines?

Still wondering about the crank position sensor or the hollow bolt with the 90 deg elbow cuase i have no pic to see, im new to cinq's, i used to have swift gti g13b.

If u have some pics would be nice, the FAQ doesnt have pics on how to fit the crans sensor or hollow bolt ect.

with the P75 cam in the P60 engine is a bit hit or miss. When i got my p60 it's goti t already but am not sure what year it came out ? So may be get the newest P60 you can and hope for the best ?

As with the crank sensor, you could use either from the punto or the cinq. OR which ever run has the longest cable.

Then you are talking about the oil pressure sensor, just use the cinq sensor IIRc.

yeh use the cinq pressure sensor with the 90 degree elbow! and my punto 60 was a late one and it had a 866 already in it aswell. cranksensor they both work doesnt matter on length as there both designed to run from the same bracket too the same bracket. if anything the punto is slightly longer due to the longer block

They selling a P60 engine for 250 euro's without gearbox. Is that a good price or is it too expensive?

I payed for Palio 75 engine, without a gearbox, starter or alternator, but with essentially all other equipment (including dp with lambda and most of the loom) 400 Euros in Germany. Depending on what you get with the engine 250 might or might not be OK.

over here a punto 60 engine from a scrappy usual price is £150 with a bearbox and all anciliarys..... or atleast thats what ive payed for the four ive bought.
