Technical How to replace the pollen filter on Doblo 263

After struggling to find the pollen filter on my Doblo I thought I would post a few pictures about it to help others.

As I understand it, it's possible that it is only the Doblos with AC which have a pollen filter. Feel free to post below about this and I'll update this post accordingly.

On my right hand drive Doblo, the pollen filter is accessed via the passenger side footwell. Move the passenger seat back as far as it will go. Looking in the footwell start by removing the plastic trim which is below the glovebox on the right hand side. Start by pulling the edge nearest to you and three areas will unclip. After unclipping the trim you will need pull the trim towards the back of the car.

The filter is at the back in a very awkward spot to get to. There is a black cover to remove first.

Pull the bottom of the cover and it will come off.

Get a feel for how the old pollen filter comes out as you need to reverse the process for fitting the new one.

I haven't got much advice for refitting. Get some decent light(s) so you can see what you're doing. If you know how to remove the glovebox then that could help. I think you can open the glovebox and peer through a small gap towards the pollen filter which can help you see what you're doing. Don't rush or get too frustrated as you could damage the new filter.

After fitting the new filter refitting the bits of trim is pretty self explanatory.

How the Heck do they expect that to be changed without damaging the new filter??? - access is close on impossible. Worse (dare I say it) than the old Zafira I had (although at least there aren't 6 spring clips to fly off into infinity - think I eventually found 3 of them, 1 was 6 months later).

Thanks for the location though, I wouldn't have thought to look there. Old one definitely needed changing, now to see what the aircon's really like...

This job is easier with the glovebox out. Removing the glovebox does not give more space, but allows you to see what you are doing.
There are three T25 screws along the bottom of the glovebox (with the lid shut), and three more along the top with the lid open. Then, the whole box, including surround comes off. Tug at the left side, near the top, and it will pop off. Then gently pull as you move across. The inner end may fight a little, and final extraction of the assembly needs the lid open, making it a little more difficult to handle.

Now you can see the filter aperture. The aperture is at 45 degrees, but the filter is across the car, meaning it has to bend around the corner. Pulling the old one out is easy, getting the new one in without crumpling it is challenging. The new one needs to be gently wriggled in, top and bottom together, which needs a contortionist, so moving top, then bottom, a little at a time will get it in without folding it in half.
