I'd like to repalce my ageing cassette/radio from a 2002 Doblo, but it won't seem to budge. I bought a pair of those prong things but no matter how far I push them into the side holes, nothing moves, not even when assisted by a screwdriver. I'm aware there is an old post giving instructions for a full stripdown to get to the back of the radio, but if I'm just replacing it with a same sized one, is this necessary?

you dont need to push pins all the way in and also push the slightly outward while attempting to pull the unit out.
Thanks - I just tried again, but no amount of pushing outwards will dislodge the thing -there does seem to be something else holding it there, but I can't see what.

I get mine out with two small screwdrivers, doing to holes each side.
was a tight fit but they do come in the end.

Richie

Just a thought but maybe when you originally inserted the prongy things, you inadvertantly put them in at slightly the wrong angle - so pushing the springy metal inside the wrong way?
You need to push the pins in slightly angled outwards... \ /
Then when the pins are in, move the heads outwards to push the tips in.... / \

Failling that, if the radio is dead anyway, why not gently trash the front surround to get at the springy bit on the sides?

Thanks - I got a bit more brutal with some extra screwdrivers and eventaully it came out. I could then see that one of the springy bits was folded back on itself -my rod had gone on on the wrong side of the spring and so all my squeezing was just jamming it further into place. I'm pleased to see that the connectors are exactly the same as on my new Peugeot so I guess this is a standard ISO fixng and I shouldn't have any trouble replacing it (two rectangular multipin plugs, plus the aerial)
