Hi all,
I was wondering how do you take the doors of, then get into them, on my '94 Cinq?

Cheers

Getting into the doors is dead easy, why do you want to take them off? They are on shims and rehanging them is not easy.

Unless the doors are damaged I can't think of any reason they need to be removed for maintenance.

Open door, remove the roll pin in the door check strap. Then remove the inner trim panel, inside you need to unclip all the electrical connections (windows, c/locking) and pull them out of the door from near the hinge. Then undo the hinge pins, these are bolts that go through the hinge blocks, top one undoes from below, bottom one from above. Then lift the whole door up off the hinges. Last time I took one off was at a scrap yard, it was perched on top of an Uno.

If you want to then remove the hinge blocks these are bolted to the door and to the A pillar

The strap thing that goes from the door to the car and holds it open is fuc*ed, Ive tightened the nut things on the bracket where it meets the car but seems to be something wrong with it within the door. It makes this very loud click noise when you open and close it. Ive put WD40, release oil, you name it, Ive put it on it to try and make it better with no luck. So wanted to take a look inside to see what is wrong with it.

Cheers

There is nothing wrong inside the door.

The problem is that the roll pin that holds the other end of it to the a pillar is loose. I would actually guess that the roll pin has snapped, and someone has put a bolt in there instead, thats a little bit too small.

On my other car (non fiat) the hold back strap mechanism had broken (the bit inside the door, not the pin end) and I had to remove the door lining, then undo the two bolts that hold the mechanism in the door (bolts are outside the door) then remove the unit from the inside of the door out where the door lining was.

So, if as David suggests, its the pin, repair that, if not then do as the above.
