How to get a genuine ELM327 chip?

Hi,

Can anyone direct me to a vendor who I can rely on to supply an OBD interface with a genuine ELM327 chip in it.
I understand that the latest firmware is version v2.1but I also understand that version v1.3a is probably "good enough"?

For anyone good enough to check their own devices, you can issue an ATI command (report modem information) at a hyperterminal prompt. It should return something like:
>ATI
>ELM327 v1.3a

I understand that Gendan use genuine ELM chips

They are also approved Multiecuscan distributors.

There are so many fake chips especially FTDI and ELM that even reputable suppliers have been caught out.

Thanks for the pointer Robert,
I have been and had a look at their web site, & I'm not so sure?

It seems to imply that it is an STN1110 chip. Any views on which is better?

Sorry for the late reply.
The STN110 looks OK, but it depends on why you wanted a genuine ELM327 chip. If it was for compatibility with MES then the Gendan interface is OK as they are MES distributors. If it was for something else then I don't know.
