General How to find actual model year ?

In the car documents first registration date is given as 5/5-81 but based on technical details of the car I suspect it is an earlier model, possibly a 1979 ?
* Carburated 1,5l
* Mechanical fuel pump
* Panel mounted side mirrors (not through window)

The car is on Spanish plates and has been living on the Canary Islands all its life as far as I can tell.

Anyone that could help me with model date ? It is always useful to know when ordering parts.

Tienes razón. Según una lista del club X1/9 de Alemania tu carro fue fabricado en julio o agoste del año 79. Pertenece a la serie D.
