Technical How to connect iphone to built in bluetooth in 06 plate stilo blu

Hi
I have an 06 plate fiat stilo blu and it has a bluetooth/handsfree fitted into the car however when i try to pair my iphone or a sony ericson an italian lady comes on the radio and then my phone says pair unsuccesful. How can i pair my phone with the car?

I think it's just that the bluetooth standard used in the Stilo is so old now, that modern phones can't communicate with it.

I used I have a stilo blue, the Italian voice cannot be changed but if you hold down the green and red phone buttons and then pair phone using '1234' it should connect.
