had a couple of x19 when younger and thinking about getting another. Good fun. At max speed on the motorway you could swing the steering from side to side and it was rock solid. Good noises also.

I read that they have a strong bodyshell so ok in an impact, however that was the 80's and all cars are built to high safety specs now.

The x19 is small and doors are wafer thin. Just wondering if anybody has been in a smash and how well they take it.

looks like legs would be done..wouldnt like a side swipe either.

The original doors had very substantial reinforcement in it - near enough exactly the same as the side impact bars in volvos (both thanks to Bertone).

Front impact is very good if you have the later bumpers, not so good with the earlier ones *but* they only work if they don't go under another vehicle which is all to easy...

Downside is a lack of deformable, sacrificial structure so despite a lack of intrusion the energy transfer to the occupants is high so more soft tissue damage instead of direct impact trauma.
