Hi i have a mk2 punto sporting 1.2 16v on a 99/v reg. it failed the mot on its emissions: 1st fast idle CO2 was 0.830% failing, the 2nd was 1.944% a fail but this time the lambda failed at 0.932. on idle CO2 was 1.22% again failing. I have purchased another cat from a scrappy but it has come fitted with 2 sensors: 1 before the cat and 1 after, the one fitted to the car has only the 1 before the cat. Should i only have the one as i cant find a spare lead or has someone bodged the car cheers.. please help as need the car for work..

Not a problem your car is euro 2 the exhaust is euro 3 just leave the second lambda unpluged or get a blank for it from a motor factors it's that easy :D

hi thanks for that, i was beginning to think that i had brought a dud.. lol
fingers crossed for the MOT now... is there any way i can check the emissions before the MOT

I have a 2000 X reg, 8v model. I'm also replacing Cat and Lambda and also only have one upstream, no downstream. My parts supplier is sure that I should have both as "from 2000 Puntos have diagnostic check facility which needs a downstream."

There is definately no sign of any output for a downstream sensor on my current Cat. A few years back my garage replaced the Cat with a used one. Is it possible they used an old model Cat that has no downstream Lambda output? I can't even see where the lead would go if it did have one.

Or, considering reg and year, is it possible my car never had this facility and doesn't need it? Maybe it should be there but doesn't need it anyway?

Either way I would appreciate any advice... all I really want to do is pass the emissions test and get the MOT!

thanks
