Times a million !!!!!!
Whilst I agree that there needs to be more choice, I don't really feel that retro colours are the answer. As is pointed out all the time, the retro colours never sold that well in the first place and there's no reason to believe they're going to do much better a 2nd time round.

If the 500 needs anything, it's a couple more free colours and some really attractive bright colours

The original retro colours were a little insipid for most people. CCCAB was just too weak compared to volare blue.

Absolutely. White, Red & Blue as a minimum.

Despite having a personal preference for the retro colours, I have to agree that if something isn't working too well, repeating it is unlikely to be a recipe for success.

What would be interesting is the idea of being able to specify your very own custom colour. I'm not sure how easy it would be to change a paint run in the factory or how much this would add to production cost, but it would certainly give the 500 another unique selling point, and FIAT could probably get away with charging a decent price premium for this one. It might need a minimum batch size to be economically viable - I'd be curious to know how many bodyshells they spray between colour changes.

I imagine the cost of a custom paintjob would be quite high. Not a bad idea to be fair though.

Another thing I'd do would be to have more designs of wheel available. For the 500 hatchback there are only 3 different 16" wheel options available and if you're wanting retro, then there's only really the 15" lounge multispokes as an option and if I'm honest I think they're rather a boring and unattractive wheel. Look at the Mini configurator, they've got wheels coming out of their ears and they're all different. Some more retro alloy options wouldn't go astray.

They've just kind of let the car stagnate in terms of options and I think other than the twinair engine there's not been much else to tempt people out of their 1.2's and into a new 500.

We definitely need those free colours though. Blue and red would really help to get rid of the sea of white 500's on the road.

hi ,im new to forum , and am pleased to say i have a ye ye green 500 and i absolutely love it , i live in wales and am yet to have seen another here ,

Saw one in Majorca a couple of weeks ago, it looked absolutly fabulous,:worship: If it was possible to order to one offs, I think I would go for it with cream leather interior A/C in pop spec with standard steel wheels. Arrh the good old days of motoring petrol at 5 shillings a gallon (y)

IMO that would be an excellent combination. Perhaps with something like this for the tyres & trims (click to enlarge):

Pasadoble red is only £280 - I agree that is a fair few pies and pints but not a lot to spend on a car costing five figures (or thereabouts) that you will keep for a decent period of time. Was it really too much to pay to have the colour you wanted?

Completely agree. We liked white so we stayed with it. But the wife did quite fancy yellow or red and if need be, we would have paid for a colour :)

I've had a Ye Ye Green from new in 2008 - it also has striking red leather seats so is very eye catching!!
There is another Ye Ye green 500 that I see locally form time to time that does not have red leather seats. Fiat in Slough have recently approached me to buy mine back again as the colour is so much in demand...

Wow - what a combo !!! When the 500 first came out this was the combination I sooooo lusted after ......you just gotta post some photos up

Alas when I was finally in a position to purchase one - Ye Ye was long gone :(:(
So I just had to console myself with an A5oo :)

Just part-ex'd my green '08 model year Mjet with 38k on clock...take guesses as to how much. If colour made a difference, salesman did not say (car brill but not big enough for changed demands - sensible Skoda estate beckons!!

I hope that nobody minds me bringing this thread back, but we've just added a beautiful ye ye to the "fleet".

It took us 3 years to find the right one: They'd all be sold immediately, too far away, or stupidly priced. My experience is that dealers do charge extra for the rarer colours. Although these colours may have been unpopular in the first instance, people who want them now are fighting for them.

I know that people are divided on ye ye, but for us, nothing else would do and we love it! (y)

I am desperate for a 500 lounge in ye ye green..... It's my first car and don't want to settle for anything less than perfect. No other colours have caught my attention (the White ones are so common now)
Ive seen that US do a similar colour called verde chiaro but not having any luck getting one.
:-(
