I'm considering getting my car lowered. I'm not dead set on getting it done yet. With money being tight etc but if I was to get it lowered how low would you's recommend
1 - how much will it bump your insurance up
2 - What is the area around you like
3 - what are the area's you regulary drive to like
Like me personally - i live in a speed bump area
So i run at standard height - so the bumps aint a problem to the chav infront who's so low he cant get over without ripping his sump out
I live in speed bump areas with a lot of potholes...had my punto lowered 50mm I thought it was fine...I drove me astra for 6 months then when I got back into punto felt like it was rock solid lol...I guess im saying not too bad when u get use to it
lowering is a modification - if you have a crash - you could forwell find out the insurance will refuse to payout - leaving you in a bigger mess
Also
Dont forget the car will need re-tracking, so good condition track rod ends are also essential - or replace them
As lowering the car will affect the suspension and steering geometry its vital to not only give you your grip back but to prevent your tyres scrubbing to death
I think there was somebody who was so low he had excessive neg camber and balded insides of tyres very quickly
No longer getting it lowered thanks to ziggy! Didn't realise how much of a hassle it would be and I can't be arsed with lowering it now hahah might just spray the alloys black
I dont wanna be a kill joy - but im assuming your young - get your NCD's up
behave - no speeding tickets or accidents - after a few years then start thinking about mods
My insurance company (chuchill) wont allow modifications till your 25
so 3 years to go for me
the best thing to do is little mods here and there, i've removed the side trim off mine, and next plan is to possibly install spot lights on the car due to the roads i drive on late at night, and the lights will be.....................HID's
