How horrible does the floor have to be before it fails the MOT?
My 500 (1971, LHD) has been off the road (in a dry garage) since late 2005.
It has been decreed (by Mrs. disgusted) that I either have to recommission it, or get rid of it. I suppose that either way I'll need an MOT. After all, the car would be worth loads more if it was on-the-road.
There are a couple of holes in the floor under where one's heels would be when driving.
I know that a new floor panel would be best, but knowing my past experiences of restorations, a quick panel replacement ends up being a 5 figure full rebuild. I'm just not going there.
So, my real question is, should I get my preferred mender to:
1) 'plate' the existing hole?
2) Butcher a new floor panel and just replace the bad section?
3) Put in a complete new floor panel?
What are your experiences/suggestions?
