How does/did ur mk1 HGT handle?

Ive had 17s on mine for a while with no other suspension/handling mods. The cars seems wallowy round bends and sharp changes of direction feel really unstable.

Has any1 overcome this with either

a) Just lowering springs
b) Just a strut brace
c) Both the above

or do i really need to be looking at shocks, springs AND maybe a strut brace?

Any suggestions or comments would really help.

Shocks no, not unless the absorbers have gone.
Get yourself some Eibach springs, their approx £150. then expect to pay about £50. for fitting unless you can do them yourself.
I had these on my HGT and their awesome. A little harder than standard but nothing like as bad as Gmax or Pi springs.
Even my dad liked it lol.
The turn in is so much better!
It's only a 30mm drop which isn't huge and looks like it could go a lot lower.

Don't bother with a strut brace.

if you have shocks already is it woth getting a strutbrace, as they are only cheap. do they do what they are meant to or are they just a cosmetic thing?

Save the money and buy new shocks when you current ones wear out.

i havent got them yet, i'm deciding wheather to get springs and save a hell of alot of money or to get shocks.
Once I've made my mind up i am wondering if it is worth getting a strut brace

Get some bilstein gas shocks, don't waste your money on expensive ones.

Good thought Tom, but there's about 6 weeks wait before Bilstein will have any in the country.... I know i've been trying to find some

(Motosportworld, PowerFiat, Demon Tweeks etc. etc.)

It seems everywhere these days doesn't keep stock they order as needed, but Bilstein UK haven't got any. They all say within a week, but when you ask them to check they either don't respond or quote 3-6 weeks minimum. Motorsportworld said they're expecting some in about 3 weeks, but they're already sold, so would have to wait until the next batch.

PS - mines an SX not a HGT

Barakka. I used proven products for my bilsteins when MSW let me down buy not returning my calls.
They got them to me in about 10 days. £167 for 4 shocks inc delivery.

Odd, you'd expect something like an OEM shock to be in stock.

Oh well, put some on order and just sit down and wait.
