The plastic lens is glue/bonded all the way round and maybee bumper off job to do! the only way is cut through with a stanley and swear alot me thinks! regards Richie

Not on mine - it's completely independent of the reflector. - I had a sidelight go, put in a new bulb that was a bit of a loose fit. It fell out into the reflector.
As I tried to get it out, it fell out between the reflector and the plastic lens.
I'm guessing the reason behind this is the heat generated by the dip/main lamps would not be good for the plastic lens. Keeping them apart allows a flow of air into the unit to cool things down?
