How do I install a CD Changer in a Bravo ?

I have just bought a 97 Bravo 1.6sx 16V and would quite like to install a CD changer. Is this best left to the professionals or is this something I might be able to do myself.

If the latter is the case, how would a non mechanically/electronically minded person like me go about this ?

Many thanks

CD changer

Do you want to install a changer to go with the standard sterio or change everything?

If the answer is everything it would be best left to someone who has a bit of knowledge, as it involves taking trim off, seats up and (on some sterio's)a bit of setting up to do with anti theft devices - SONY)

If it is the standard changer you want to fit, then the wires should be tucked (already) behind the rear seat on the nearside of the car. Plug it into the changer (grundig), mount the changer on the offside to and your done. Just make sure you use a drill bit that is specificly for drilling through metal as it can take time with a normal drill bit.

CD player info.

Steve,

The latter scenarion is the case - just fancied buying a standard CD changer and plugging it in. You mentioned the Grundig CD changer - is this the only option (due to connection type or something )or can I use any CD changer ?

If the Grundig option is the only one, where would I get this changer and how much would it cost - also, does it come with instructions on how to fit to car etc.

I bet you didn't think anyone could be so thick when it came to cars and sterios eh ?!!!

Thanks for your help Steve - much appreciated.

Cheers

Grundig

Robin, this is the only player that will fit I am afraid. Fiat will sell you one for around £300 of your hard earned money. However ask away on this site as someone may have one going cheap. They are very easy to fit, just plug in, you will need to anchor the unit down and there are brackets supplied. Usual place for this is left hand side of the boot by the light. Find the cables first and Bob is your uncle.
Good luck

Thanks

Thanks for the help - I have found the cable - a little round 9 pin thing.
I presume I plug this into the CD changer and everything will work (hopefully anyway ! )

Is it still the MCD36 model or is there another one on the go now ?

Cheers
Robin

MCD36

It is still the MCD36 which you can get for £200 from www.caraudiodirect.co.uk

Fiat dealers will rip you off with £300 for the MCD36!!!
