Technical How Do I Boost Power? (Cheaply)

Bloody fairer sex my arse B)] lol

I am sorry but you car is too old to be done via a remap, I am very sorry. To enable a rempa the ECU Chip need to be able to be written to and these were only on the MK2 Punto 1.2 16V and 1.9JTD, sorry :(

So as for a price, we wont be able to do it for £50 :D

re:- What a load of ******** especially Fiat Expert!

Brava GT how much power to £ on cams??? Alfa 2.4 JTD - 60 BHP, 60 lb ft torque £350 on a re-map - do that with cams! Stilo 1.2 8BHP for £180,do that with a full exhaust or cams!

"Not much you can you can do will increase power a lot unless ecu chipped and then the car becomes harder to drive at low revs and more thirsty. Big exhausts give a very small amount, and unless the catalyic converter is removed you will feel no icrease hardly at all."

The car does not become harder to drive at lower revs and it doesn’t become more thirsty. I have a seriously remapped Punto as a test car and the economy is up at 52mpg and is a honey in traffic. When were you working on cars? By the way the increase is from 80 BHP standard to 130 BHP and nearly 200lb ft torque. We have huge experience over the entire range of modern Italian cars from Punto's, to 156 GTA though Multipla's

"Got to remember also your vehicle is highly sophisicated, and will have EOBD on. Anything which alters emmisions and the fuel injection light will come on , and if left on you can be fined of the police, if its on due to an emission problem"

You will not be stopped in the UK for an engine light and they will not do on the spot emissions problems - even a diesel that smokes like a bitch won’t be stopped unless its a truck.

There are though very few alternatives on the 1.6 engine, you wont get piper or kent cams unless you have them specially made by them. C&B in Italy don’t do them for the 1.6 as far as I am aware either.

If you want real power I am afraid the options are 1.9 JTD (about 170BHP) and 2.4 (about 190BHP) from a re-map - don’t chip for Gods sake that will invalidate warranties etc.

This is not advertising as we don’t do the 1.6!

No offence guys, but research pays.

Unless You konw exactly what EOBD IS ccf2 ccf3 ccf4 ccf5 are, well then, for one, spot checks are coming out in 2004, as for straight through exhausts i take it your leaving the pre cat/post cat there, as if you dont it will fault in fuel injection, now car have 4 lambda probres e.g alfa 147 1.8jts, high pressure petrol engine with lean burn technology. I would like you to try and chip these without faults or engine damage. P.s Fuel pressure 80-100 bar, and fuel ratio at lean burn stage up to 30;1. and i will probaly know more than you will ever know....[:X][:X][:X]

Firstly it was you that mentioned about removing the cat – nothing to do with me!

We leave everything in place and alter the engine map data accordingly to produce more power where possible. We are NOT chipping anything we are using the existing hardware and re-mapping it, much safer. We are “modifying” the 2.0 JTS engine in exactly this matter – its works on the same technology as the 1.8 and we have no issues or damage otherwise we couldn’t sell our service! We do indeed do the 1.6 and 1.8 Alfa engines but there isn’t a great call for them over here and in fact we have only ever done one 1.8 156 – and that was a bastard!

But you are right, you know more than I will ever know, but you are keeping it much better hidden than I could.

Hiah FiatExpert

Just a question of interest with you being located in the USA.

Is there a big FIAT following in the States? Do Americans go for such small Euroboxes? I aint no expert but I'm suprised that FIAT have made it to the USA as we are led to believe that you generally like big V8 gas guzzling machines that are restricted to 55mph. I'm not taking the **** I am generally interested. I can't imagine what the sales figures would be for a Punto or Sei in the USA, you guys must view them as novelty cars or toys. Also, do yours come with more kit, you know, being the worlds most demanding consumer market, you just aint gonna settle for windy down windows and no air con?

Look forward to your answer!

Cheers.

Dear FE - I never said you weren’t here to help people but you made a number of incorrect statements, which damage the perception of a product/service that required addressing. I get really pissed off on forums by people who either think they know about something when they don’t or because they haven’t had it done assume it is no good.

I made an assumption as I have been on here a long time that you were one of the general twats as I hadn’t read any other posts except for the misinformed one. Now I have read you other posts I can only apologise for any reference to you not knowing what you were on about on all counts and I duly apologise, I hope you can accept.

If you would like to view my two web sites, www.bravo-guide.co.uk and my business one www.angeltuning.co.uk you can see that I too am around to help people and in no way wish to prevent other from doing so.

Do you have remapping in the US to the degree we are launching over here? I ask as there is a possibility to break into the US market using the equipment we use and I could do with working in away 3 months a year!

Cheers

Nige

Alfanige looking into to remap on my Abarth, likely increase of some 10-12% in both torque and BHP for a very sensible amount of money, will let you know when I get it done and what it feels like! Just waiting on response to questions re the warranty and whether the remap affects any of the systems, for example the emissions control unit?[}:)]

Telboy, bring it on!

Guys... here in greece ive searched high and low, left and right... and i still havent found a tuner that can promise me an increase in Bhp without something going wrong... either the A/C wont work, or the Check engine warning will always be on, or something...
Because i really like my car, ive found a body kit to put on, im gonna start asking tuners abroad... im planning on driving up to London sometime around march... Does anybody know where i can go get a big Bhp gain (either a turbo kit, compressor, or even atmospheric)? or have their email so i can send an email...

thanks...
if nothing comes up ill just live with it, till i have enough to buy a new car...

GOOD FROM FAR.... but....
FAR FROM GOOD!!!!

Barfastic, a good engine mapping company should be able to ensure that everything works as it should do. We often say to people that if we are unable to complete the work becuase of this or that then we will come to them a week later with a resolution to the issue. When you remap or indeed chip a car the data area that you are altering should not affect the other areas if done correctly. We like to take out time and get it spot on, otherwise we have an unhappy customer.

May I suggest you get hold of accini giovani in Turin and ask them who to contact near to you and they should put you in touch with top notch people.
