Hello all, I am a Volvo collector and the other day I was doing a job for a client . On a trailer was a small red car and me being a junk collector I had to ask. It was going to the dump that day so I decided to take it myself :chin: I gave my self 2 hours to get her running and if not , off to the crusher. She roared to life in less than a hour . She has to be the funest little car I have had in a long time . She is a 1971 124 sport spider . She needs a top and seat but I have been able to get everything else working except the wipers . It is raining here so i have not been able to take her for a real drive yet, just around the hood . I later found out she sat for over 6 years and had a fresh motor put in around 3k ago . (y)

Looking forward to Fiat things

Wow not a very welcoming place in here to the classic Fiat owners i guess. Is this just a place for new car people ?

Hello and thanks for the welcome . I was beginning to figure this was a new Fiat only crowd . I have some minor restoration ideas for the car like new wood, new front seat fabric, i removed the front bumper, a blood red with black hood and trunk paint job . I found a place that sells a new black top so come summer she will be all ready for the road . The only problem is my wife claimed here as soon as she rolled onto the farm

This is what she wants the car to look like

Hiya RasputinInCal! What a lovely example, I cant believe someone in the Sunshine State could throw that away! There are many amongst us that love old models of many different makes inc Fiat (for those that dont yet self-harm :p ) Please keep us fed with picture progress on the baby! (y)

Hi and thank you for the welcome , I will keep a log of my work when the weather dries a bit and i can work on her . One thing i do not get is on the example picture the front outside marker lights are really small and the one i have they are big and ugly . Was that a diffrence from a late 70's and 80's model or did they just bondo the hole and put the small lights in ? I am guessing the sample pic ( the fiat with the black hood ) is a later model do to the hood style ?? Also does anybody know if the bumper hole fillers in the sample car pic will fit my 1971 ?

Thanks a lot for help as i need to learn a lot about this fun ride

There were quite a few changes made to European cars exported to the USA in past years, take for example the bumpers (fenders) on the old MG B and the MG Midgets... small thin chrome examples became huge rubber coated iron examples, so the marker lights (sidelights here) may be a part of that to comply with Californian regulation at the time, and maybe they got changed by a previous owner to restore the original Italian design kudos, not too sure to be honest but its a thought.

No, no, no, no no! :p You can have any Fiat of any age and you're welcome on here.
(Infact, you don't even have to own a Fiat, but the forum is primarily for people who own them)

Welcome aboard the FIAT Forum, by the way. Enjoy your stay here! :)
Always nice to have people from other parts of the world (where Fiats are a rarity) joining up here.

Congratulations on saving such a rare vehicle - can't be many on the roads now - especially in Florida! Good luck with the project on doing it up! Do keep us all posted on the progress you make.
