Tuning How can i get more of a growl

Hey guys it mite sound daft but i was wondering what more mads can i do to my lil cinq to make my engine sound more throaty? i already have a 38mm throttle body fitted and a induction kit is it possible?

Hey man

Remove centre silencer? I got a new centre section and chopped out the silencer - then had it welded.

You could do it without welding by using pieces of pipe - but you have to get the angle of the centre pipe accurate - so the whole system doesnt bang the floor and fall apart

My K&N is quite noisey. prob makes a better noise than it works at increasing hp

You could also get a snazzy back box of course - or remove some wadding from inside yours by cutting an access hole. It does fall out on its own though in the end. maybe experiment with a coat hanger and see if you can get some fiberglass out?? depends on the box's condition of course.

Its all about cheap mods with cinqs imo!

Get the standard airbox on and chop a big hole on the top of it (pre filter) then chop a hole in the bonnet and mesh it, my old cinq had that done to it and it sounded quite growly, before i stuck a decent exhaust on it.

Or the novitec airbox's make them sound sweet aswell, but hard to get hold of nowadays

haha yeah cheers purf im going tosee about the centre section removal i already have a back box fitted makes a realnice bassy sound havnt been able to record it yet for you guys to hear

Erm yeah it is a fairly hard mod to do, custom manifold will have to be made. And if you want the best from then, then they work at there best high up the rev range, so a decent cam needed for that, then a load of bits needed to run a decent cam ect ect

is there anything like head skimming or port po,ishing that will make my engine sound nicer? i have the exhaust noise down just want something in the engine sound

haha naa ive seen enough threads on here about turboing and some havnt been a pretty site to start with and hard to get the set ups right think ill stick to the NA tuning

record a v8 and play it over your stereo REALLY LOUD so it sounds throaty

421 manifold and ported and flowed head, bigger valves all will change the note.

do what i did cut hole in bonnet infront of air box then coone it and put a massive induction filter from like a jap car like supra massive and then you have a cold air feed onto a massive induction kit for pence ow and you can get good back box and 2 inch stairght through sysetm like me and no cat sounds insain for a 899 lol and get about 20bhp more he he ow and i got a mapped ecu to my car revs to 8 thousand instead of seven rat look all the way

cheapest way to get a growl

1: put your missus/any female in the passenger seat.

2: drive to 30mph

3: drop ankers without any warning and for no reason.

growl 100% guaranteed

note: much more effective with sticky tyres and bigger brakes.
May cause knocking and interior damage if seat belt is not warn

Get the throttlebody bob off an 899, then go get a samco bend or something similar and make something similar too: http://www.gsrengineering.com/engineering/pages/productsbycar/fiat/fiat_sei_induction.htm

Of if you have the pennies buy one of these, personally though I would make one.
