I upload my pictures (taken on my camera) to my hard drive "pictures".
Then: look at the bottom of the message box in which you are entering your text. To the right of that is a box "go advanced" click on that.
Now, at the top of the box find the paper clip and click on it. The manage attachments box appears. Click on "choose file" and you can search your files for the image you want to upload. Click on the image and "open" it. You'll see it now in the "choose file" box - you can choose a few at the same time if you want but maybe start with single ones so as not to confuse - Now click on upload and wait while the forum sorts out it's end of things. It'll say it's "uploading files" and when it's happy the file will appear in this location. Once it's completed its upload of the file you can close the manage attachments file (click on the cross in the top corner or just click in the original dialogue box) Now you're back in the dialogue box. Click your cursor in the position where you want to insert the image, go up to the top and click the paperclip, a list of your uploaded files drops down and you just click on the one you want to place there in the text.
If you start by just uploading one file it makes it easy to identify the one you want to place in the text. If you want to upload more files you'll find that now you have an image stored, when you click the paperclip the first thing that appears at the top is "Manage Files". If you click on that it takes you to the "manage Files" box you were in earlier and lets you choose and upload more files.
I'm pretty thick when it comes to computery things and it took me quite a while to get to grips with this. Don't loose faith though, once you get on top of it it's easy - just look at the posts I do!
