Hi all, I went through some rather deep water the other day due to the floods, and now my hooter is gargling instead of hooting. I have tracked the hooter down to somewhere under the n/s headlight, do you have to take this out to get at it, or the bumper off, if so how do they come out. Thanks for any info

I (and a lot of other bug owners) have had fun with the horn on our darlings.

Yes, it is under the front N/S bumper/wing.
and THAT's where mine still is! Although it is not employed - more of a museum piece - I bought in a pair of very loud twin horns and used the old wiring to drive them.
I went for electric horns as apposed to electric/air - because I didn't like the sound of the horn 'falling off' when the button was released. The electric is a harder, sharper more strident sound
You don't stay asleep long when they take voice!
Good luck
George

thanks for that, I had read several posts where like you other owners had fitted aftermarket horns, and I intend doing the same, but as I could not see the horn I was unsure where to connect the wire of the new horn to, did you have to take the bumper off, or the head light out, or is there a wire I could get at in the engine bay to wire a new horn to, and how do you identify it.
