Hole in cat.. i think

When i got my supersprint exhaust put on the bloke there said i had a hole in my cat. So i had a look underneath, and it looks like theres an intentional hole coming from a small box in front of the cat (im not sure if its all one unit?) I took a picture to show u guys anyway. I dont fancy getting a new one just yet so would repairing it with exhaust putty and straping it up be ok for a while?

Nooooo.... you cant use putty's or pastes in front of the cat! all the **** and bits from it ends up inside the cat, and kills it. unless its already dead, in which case you'll have to replace it for the mot anyway...

cheers buzz. it just had its mot and passed fine. is that small box part of the cat 'unit' then? i think its ok but its just the noise it makes!

is it actually blowing from there? that looks quite far back for a cat, but then it depends on what engine u have where the cat is. could just be the angle of the pic.

its a 1.6. think it is just the angle. i was upsidedown at the time!! its blowing a bit yeah hence the noise! i think it's been like that for a while tho. i had the feeling that my exhaust should be louder so i'm thinking that might be the problem!

Thats not the cat. Thats just a join.

If its actually blowing from there (put your hand near it, it won't kill you) then you'll need a new front pipe.

Yer, that's the bit containing the flexi on the front pipe. Cheapest place for em I've found is Cats Direct (online store). Just do a search. They're about £50.

cats direct are cheap (but if you've seen their cats you'll understand why), but they are also a bunch of tossers. use at own risk. they are not a customer orientated organisation, or at least, their mail order department and head guy for complaints aren't. still, since you only want a bit of pipe, you should be ok. i cant say i recommend though
