HLX vs HGT

I've had an HLX for the last 6 months and I thought I ot a good deal when I bought it - T reg with 27000m for £4300. But now I've seen several T reg HGTs for sale locally for around £4000 (not necessarily high mileage) and am tempted. I'm only 22 with 1yr NCB so I know insurance will be an issue, but how does the HLX compare to the HGT? mpg, driving experience, joy of ownership, problems etc

If you like the HLX stick with it, the HGT is a nice car, but there is a wee difference in insurance, i have a 1.8 HLX have owned it for 12 months and was thinking about getting a HGT, but check angel tuning set up by alfanige, they can remap your engine chip for performance closer to the HGT, alfanige will answer any questions you have he is a top banana, the only snag i have with my HLX is the bloody ariel in the car wash, twangs it like a guitar. ;)

Re: Re: HLX vs HGT

You can only get at best 10%ish extra power from a remap and 126BHP is still a way off 155.

Yogis has spent thousands on his 1.8 and now has 147BHP and about the same torque than an HGT.

Re: Re: Re: HLX vs HGT

why not take the arial off in the car wash?

Re: Re: Re: Re: HLX vs HGT

id take it off before the car wash as youd get wet if you did it when inside

Re: Re: Re: Re: HLX vs HGT

Ive owned a HLX and now ive got a HGT. Im 20 years old and the HGT is the car of my dreams.

Its got every I want looks wise in a car and its performance is unbeatable in its catogery.

My view was if I wanted to slowly do my car up with mods then I had to at least look into buying the top of the range model. 1 took the HGT for a test drive and before I knew it I was signing paper work.

Re: Re: Re: HLX vs HGT

i suppose your right tom about the HGT and more power, more power = :)
but i suppose i am happy in the HLX because i only use it for work and shopping, for all other nice day motoring i use the fireblade, it's a little quicker away from the lights, when you can keep bloody front tyre on road that is.

Re: Re: Re: Re: HLX vs HGT

The HGT and HLX are basically the same car except for the engine.
I think that the basic car has the same spec, radio, airbags etc.

The HGT will cost you more for everything, It's heavier, it'll drink more fuel, it's more expensive to service by a long way, especially the cam-belt.
It looks the same so the only reason for changing would be purely for the more powerful engine.

I would say go for it ;) I love my HGT :)

Front wheel off the ground

What does the fireblade do in second gear ??? Was on the back of one scared the living daylights outta me. The power Nearly had me dragged off the back of the bloody thing!! Seriously scary power. Over 140mph as a pillon is not nice !!

Re: Front wheel off the ground

the fireblade hits around 75 in second before screaming for 3rd, its ok if you want fairly quick, if you want f*@;ng quick try a hyabusa, they look big and slow but will touch 90 when pushed in first, and will carry on till around 190, as for the fireblade, i think they are scaryier, the blueflame exhuast sounds the mutts nutts, only prob is the tyres, bridgestone b56's cost a arm and a leg, will be getting rid soon, spend more time and money on my hlx, nice car ;)

Re: Re: Front wheel off the ground

Blueflame exhausts, mmmmmmm

I have one on my 1.2, lol.

Did you get it from Blueflame in Skelmersdale?

Re: Re: Re: Front wheel off the ground

No wimmy, got it from V & M racing in middleton, a snip at £600, can make plod's ears bleed at 2 miles.

Tyres for bikes can be expensive, but if you go to the right places they can be a tad cheaper...

http://www.fwr.co.uk/

They will deliver the tyres to you for a little extra, but then you need em fitted.
They are based in London but as I work 15 minutes away from them so I'm alright jack ;)

I have never ridden a blade, but I have ridden a Fazer 1000 and also a Bandit 1200 and I have to say thay the Fazer has to be the best all round bike I have ever ridden. It's fast, fecking fast I bottled at 150 everything was whizzing past so quickly. It's also the sorta bike I reckon you could do a good long journey on and not be too knackered at the end of.
The Bandit is a fatty lardarse bike, oh it's powerful but it's just not a nice bike to ride.

Once you start getting in the 1000cc class of bike and above they are all fast, just varying degrees. They will all do 0-60 in the 3 second bracket !!!
