hi,
i've got a T '99 of the above, and recently a banging/klunking(technical term!!) noise has started from underneath the car every time i drive over shitty roads, or cobbled streets. it happens when i take my foot off the throttle, still in gear, and let the car "glide" over the pot holes. from the drivers seat, it sounds like it's coming from the front drivers side, from half way forward. i've taken it down to my local garage, they've checked everything- the heat shield for the exhaust, the exhaust it's self, basically we've shaken everything, changed bolt on the heat guards, and still the noise comes back. i'm praying it's not shocks!!!! but it all points towards that. maybe one of you good people out there can throw me a bone!!!!

p.s. i know what many of you are gonna say- dont drive over shitty roads, and pot holes, turn the volume up on the srereo, but i want to sort this out!!!

Worn shocks, worn lower ball joints, worn bushes. One, some or all of them.

I had two vibrations coming from under my car.

1st one was a heat shield vibrating on the exhaust.

2nd was the catalyst. The inner ceramic was loose and rattling against its casing. Catalyst works ok still but i have to put up with the rattle.

Maybe one of these is your problem mate.

The catalyst only rattles when i go over bumps not from when i shake it.

Lower arms with ball joints and bushes, £75 each. Come as a unit so can't do 1 bit at a time.

Front shocks are £50ish each.

I'd say you have worn shocks at a minimum.
Best place to get them from is buypartsbuy, online. I paid £25.90 each for 1.8hlx Kayaba excel-g (gas) shocks. delivery is only £5.50 to!
