First of all hope everyone had a good newyear.
Ok here we go.
It started xmas day my wife got me a sat nav, after charging it up for the 1st time I then remembered that the cigarette lighter in my W reg Brava 1.2 80sx,has never worked.
so I thought maybe its just a loose wire so gave it a wiggle and then the outer green led circle lit up but it still would not charge the sat nav.
next time i used the car it started first time but after a while everytime i slow down at a juction , traffic lights or at a island it dies on me the first light i see flash up is the injecter light followed by the otherlights as it stalls.
I have been told its my stepper motor thats faulty by a mate that is no mechanic but messes with cars in his spare time.
a new stepper motor will cost me £180 quid fitted.
now was it just a coincidence that i fiddled with the cigarette lighter and the very next time i drove the car the stepper motor went.
I remember years ago my next door neighbour put a new radio in his car and had the same problem so he put the old radio back in and the car worked fine again, he put it down to either a bad earth or an open electrical circuit.
Is there a way i can test the stepper motor. the car starts first time every time and stays at around 800 revs untill the car moves.
