And thus will open up another avenue to look into for a more reliable power output without putting loads more strain onto an engine

tuned 1.2 8v can poke out 85hp and more if your willing to spend

or drop a 1.2 16v in with 85hp stock

....I'm now after a bigger throttle body, I've had words with the engineer there and he said he can rebore the tb out and sleeve it but I would need to find a butterfly to suit whatever size it is tone bored too, has anyone used any straight fit oem butterflies from specific makes/models or does anyone know where I can buy one from??

If you're still going 40mm.... then i think it's a Mk1 1.2 16v Punto TB(???) but i wouldn't swear to it -besides which will the mounting holes on the shaft line up with the holes on the butterfly :( You're OK as long as they don't overlap.
Better to make one up yourself, it's only a brass plate. Just remember the sides aren't exactly 90deg to the flat, you will need to check the butterfly you have to get the angles correct.

Yea I was contemplating making one up however after a chat with the local engineer it seems I don't feel confident in making one up myself although surely there's a company that does or can make up butterflies ???

If not i may have a tricker potentially on the cards :D

Hi there, this is my first post so be kind :)
I have a cinq and was looking for a 16v engine but I ended up buying a cinq with a 1242 8v engine of which I'm picking up on Sunday. (so I'll be a 2 cinq owner;) ) The guy is also chucking in a spare 34m Tb and I'll look into boring it out and making a butterfly as I am an engineer and should be able to do it at work and I'll let you know but it will take me a week or so..
 
hmmm just had this thread on my mind lol, just a quick question for those that are in the know

is the 1.2 16ver as involved as the 1.4 16v job as after taking the missus punto sporting out today i was quite suprised at how well it goes (now its finally fixed)

Im essentially going to make one decent car out of two and sell the rest of the stuff I don't need. Plus mod the 1242 before stickin it into my main cinq.
 
Well I've finally had the 866 cam properly shimed hopefully next week ill be gettin the flywheel lightened to around 4 kilos. I'm still after a 38mm or 40mm tb if anyone has one or knows of one sitting in a scrappy also still after a 1242 8v block with lowish mileage aswell

I currently have an UNO inlet and a cinq throttle body being sent to mrfixit. He's going to see how much he can open it by and he's also making me a spacer too for the TB.

I'll let you know when I get it all back in a couple of weeks.
 
So Saturday I'll have one enlarged.. To 40mm you can really go any further than that I took a look at the spare one that came with the cinq I bought and it will block stuff off that it shouldn't
