Ello people! Hope every1 is gud n enjoyin their Bravs n Mareas.

Right,

What are normally the problems to make my 1.2 drink too much? I had a full service back in February, changed pre-cat lambda to a genuine part n run sum Forte thru, both engine flush n gas treatment. Still no difference! :S

I am baffled n really need pointin in the right direction.

Would changin the cat-convertor do the trick? Or will it be suttin else?

Please please help me out!

1.2 16v Bravo Trofeo(W). Mileage: 74669

Hav'nt workd it out, but last time I did it was around the 26mpg mark.
Basically I was gettin around the 270-280 to a full tank! N dats bad! Very Baad! :(

ha ha join the club mines ****e these days for 45quid i have got 150 miles so far. driving easy too.

Ahhh mate! I am feelin it baad in my wallet tho!!!:( I jus don't understand?:S

I am drivin it easy as well n manage bou 100-110 from 20 quid! Thats local or at a constant speed:(

Any1 been thru this n sorted it???

Yep!! i bought a DERV remaped it done a few other things?? made it even quicker!! as in EATS ???'s FACT.

And if im really trying, can get around 49 52 mpg
:)

Come on the DERV!! :)

And it's done over 100K,but is 100% sound, with a high mantinance schedule mind you.

i still drive erratic (cant help it)

1.2 full tank gets me 250-300 miles
so i htink that is good

Fox_E - Dont be comparing mileage driven to cost of fuel putting in. As this will change as fuel prices rise.

Only way to do it would be to fill up to the brim and reset the milage. Drive along as you normally do. When you next fill, fill to the brim and check the amount you have put in. Check your milage then work out the mpg :)

Check your tyre pressures too. Huge factor in mpg

I get around 400 - 500 miles from a tank in my 1.2 which I think is about right, sounds like a problem somewhere, wish I could tell you where though!

I'm getting about 40-42 around town and 44-48 on motorway journeys out of my 1.2 sx, I dont exactly drive it carefully either at times. My car has now done 96,000 miles and still runs well although i noticed a dramatic drop in economy when i use redex, i only got 32-35 for a while, even if i was careful.....

Sean, I only ever got that kind of MPG from my 1.2 when it was being towed home for yet another gearbox!

best I ever got was 400 miles from a full tank as i had Ash in the passenger seat winging about me using too much fuel (he was paying as i was picking his replacement 1.6 engine with him) rest of the time I always got sub 300, and often i could get sub 200

Andy_sx (drives like a nutter and no longer gives a toss about fuel consumption)

I get on average 450 miles to a tank, have you got a completly stock engine, e.g. no induction kit or new exhaust?

Chris

I have a Ractive Induction kit n jus a Twin Upswept DTM backbox exhaust.
See I was havin high petrol consumption even before I put the Ractive and backbox on. :S

Would changin the CAT work? I kno the emissions will cum down as they were all ova da place on the last MOT.

A local garage can do it in the region of £90-100 both supply n fit.

'100-110 from 20 quid! Thats local or at a constant speed'

Assuming you pay £1.15 per litre this gives you 17.4 litres of petrol, wich works out to 3.82 gallons,

if you do 110 miles it works out too 28.79 MPG

if you do 100 miles it works out too 26.17 MPG

fiat only state 30 MPG for town driving, added to the fact that you have a aftermarket air filter & exhaust it don't seem that bad TBH.

one question is when did you run the fuel treatment through? a lot of people comment on how this affects the mpg for a few tanks until its all burnt off..

Y it's gettin to me is the fact that my mate also has a 1.2 Bravo with induction kit(wiv cold-air feed) n nw a backbox.
No change in his MPG at all. Manages to always hit 185-200 from a 20 note.
@ Stephen, I remember the garage runnin sum through back in February mate.
At first felt a lil responsive but cupla days later, felt da same.

It could be the cat mate, if your willing to buy a new one I have a second hand one, that comes with a ragazzon cat back system and a front pipe for £150. Plus I live just down the road from ash where you got your suspension...

Andy_sx

ps, I'm not trying to sell it to you based on the fact its a possibility, just the fact I have one and for a lil extra you get a full system too... lol

Lol. Das cool. Dats a good deal tho. Wud be tempted but, I've always wanted a centre exit n a backbox lyk on Wimmy's ex-HGT.

I'll let u know if I change ma mynd:)

U fink I shud gamble it on the CAT then? Get paid in 2 weeks so woteva I do will happen then.
