General High Mileage B?

Hi, ...I'm just about to look at buying a 'high milage' B, with75,000 miles on the clock - should I be worried about the B's engine & gearbox or do they go on to 150,000 without too much trouble as long as they are serviced?

Anyone with a high milage B who can confirm that milage is the least of my worries.

Depends how the milage accumulated, if it's 75,000 miles of country & motorway driving I would say it's pretty low, if it's 75,000 miles of popping to the shops and 2 miles trips I wouldn't be happy. But you really have to look at the mileage, history etc and make your decision from that.

My B has 80000 miles on the clock and is spot on. But I have spent good money on her

Nothing that I could not fix at home with a few tools and the WWW

Mine has got 100'000 miles (160'000km) on it and its ok... its starting to show its age a little and ive spent quite a bit on it but overall I think Fiats 1747cc engine is good for 200k and over if its looked after.

My cousin has a punto HGT with the same engine with 190k on it and it still runs sweet!

I agree An engine can give you 40K if you just thrash it within an inch of its life everyday. Never service it or fix all the little things that come along.

If you service it every six - nine months and drive it with respect for the first 5 mins when you get in it in the morning. You can get a good 180 - 200K easy.

Its all about !!! good oil, good plugs, good filters !!!
