High Idle Speed

The problems keep coming,
1. Ever since my battery went dead and I replaced the idle speed on start up is at 1500 rpm compared to 850 rpm before, after driving its back to normal but from a cold start its like this.
2. My front windscreen washers have give up they work some times and then mighten work for a week, there's plenty of water in the tank and all the connecting pipes are in order.
3. Also the back windscreen wiper goes constantly when switched on and when you switch it off, it goes off where ever you have stoped it, strange!!

By the way its a 98 Bravo 1.4SX and the fuel compsumption is terrible on it but its nippy enough. Any help would be great

point 3 is an enhacement! Of you spray the rear screen normally the water runs off before the wiper goes across again.

Not the only one

Hi guys,

you are not alone!!! The same thing is happening to my 96 1.4SX. I had a big service incl a new battery and sort of since then when it starts from cold the engine revs pretty high before coming back down!

There is also another noice which someone mentioned not too long ago: a gritty sloshing liquid sound on acceleration (again when cold).

Apart from this the car drives like new! Don't know what is causing it might get someone who knows something to have a peek!
