High Emission Pointers

i'm taking my 1.2 80sx in for a service next month, got an irritating start problem so am going to get HT leads replaced with the service, but my main problem is the high emissions, at last MOT test it failed and even with new lambda sensor and cat it still struggled to pass, can anyone give me any tips on what else to change or look at for when it goes in for service. mechanic is a reliable friend of a friend so feel comfortable with him dealing with it if we know which direction to head towards! thanks.

i havent got a copy of the fail results but i do have the pass results from MOT testers, not that i understand what i am reading so if you tell me what you want to know, i'm sure i'll be able to give you the results.

Hi,

Got this issue with work vans every year!

What we do is get a large amount of fuel line cleaner (the wynns type stuff), and over dose it in the fuel + take off the fuel filter and fill it up with the same stuff. And also buy a big can of decent carb cleaner and empty the whole can into the intake. Give you vehicle a damn good thrashing all the way to the mot high revs. Never fails! Also make sure any vaccum pipes and everything going to the intake manifold is all secure and not leaking cos it'll give a nasty reading on emmisions if you've got a leak (that was a tip from the mot'er)
