General Hi There just bought my first fiat and its busted pse help

Just bought a Ulysse and its busted Help!

Hi there I have recently bought a P-reg 1.9tds fiat ulysse and three days after I got it power appears to have dissapeared from the immobiliser keypad. I have checked all the fuses etc but as I have been unable to get any kind of literature on the system I do not know how to proceed in finding the fault. The car will not start and its just a little bit annoying I have also just fallen foul of a rogue garage so I would like to have some idea whats up before I take it in to FIAT. If anyone has any idea what may be causing the fault or has a good source on getting some circuit diagrams, or knows how to bypass the system I would be eternally gratefull

I had similar problem with mine, i had to keep tapping the keypad for the lights to come on. In the end i disconnected it altogether. I started the car left it running did not stop it and pulled the connector block out from the rear of the key pad all done.

I got the info from a previous post on the site.

I had a similar problem ( one of many ) on my wifes P reg 1.9tds. The wires to the keypad can be a bit fragile and so a break in any of them could cause the keypad to not function properly. GENTLY move the wires to see if any damage and check connections are clean. Also check condition / cleanliness of keypad itself.
Doing this allowed me to get the engine started, and once started, I unplugged the keypad for good! ( as the previous reply states, start engine first, then remove BEFORE switching off again ).

On our old Ulysse we had teh same peoblem. I wanted to keep the key pad as I think it's a great idea. So I replaced all the wires on by one with new ones. Never gave a problem in all the years we had it after that.
