Hi im Simon, just found this site after looking for things for my punto. Not entirely sure if this is the right place for questions but it might be better than a load of separate posts.

Right basically ive got my first car, well its my mums but will soon be mine when i pass my test (hopefully in Feb, second time lucky!! - failed first time with 5 minors and a dangerous!! Thats debatable bt anyway on with the questions....)

Anyway basically there are three things which i want and i just need info on where to get them from and how to fit them! (Hopefully you can help, please try and keep it simple as the closest ive come to tinkering with a car is changing a tyre!!)

Anyway i want remote central locking (i currently have key central locking), and rear speakers theres brackets and i think cables. Also sat nav, but thats not a priority, just call to have (think ive decided on a Tomtom one anyway...)

So any advice on where to get these things and how to fit them, i guess i could just take it to fiat and ask them to do it but im sure it would cost a bomb so i wouldnt mind trying to do it myself!! Any help would be greatly appreciated and i look foward to dicussing all things fiat in this forum..

Ooo car specs might help, its a 1.2 8v 3dr y reg punto...

Thanks

Simon (y)

hello, welcome - good luck with the 2nd test

remote central locking. I'm not sure if a Y reg is mk1 or mk2, i suspect its mk2. If it is MK1, then this would work:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-REMOTE-C...ryZ10382QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

But if not, i'd recomending buy an alarm as most of them will be able to control the central locking.

Rear speakers, i suspec all the wiring will be there, space for 10cm speakers.

for sat nav, i'd buy the refurb PDA off this site - and then get a copy of the TomTom software for it

Right thank you for your welcome!

Ive been reading the posts on here and the meta m20 seems to be the simplist (But the cheapest ive found is it for £50 or £70 away from ebay) is that worth it?? Or any other ones which will work....

As for speakers should i just get any standard 10cm speakers from halfords or somewhere (not bothered about serious wattage etc, just want to have music all around as opposed to just the four speakers upfront). There is a wire on the right side of the boot with a plastic clip, but i cant seem to find on the left, any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Simon

Hi there Simon...

Welcome to the forum :)

Have you not thought about some 6x9 speakers?

The TomTom sat nav is a very good one. It got me and my boyfriend to the nurburgring in Germany no problem (y)

Dont for get to check out the punto sections.

Also members motors for putting up pics of your car and ask any insurance question in our insurance section :)

Good luck with your next test.... second time passers make better drivers ;)

6x9 speakers...which are what and go where, i hope they are not the parcel shelf ones as i just want the ones to go in the speaker brackets already there...

I think i will post pics of my car when i get the chance, although its just a basic 3dr sky blue punto!

Found these which seem to be a good price but some things are confusing me...http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...5-31371-38225&varient=&CarSelectorCatalogId=#

Namely on there it says a set of two speakers and ones just a normal speaker and the others a speaker in a holder...why are they different, surely i just need the normal plain speakers so i can just screw it on...secondly in my boot there seems to be only a cable with a clip on the right and i cant see one on the left...should there be one??

Thanks and sorry for being so noobish...

one pic is with the speaker grill removed ;)

Oh so it will come with 2 speakers with optional grills...

Right ive just found out from reading similer posts on here that what i originally thought was a speaker cabe in the boot is infact a bootlight cable for which mine doesnt have...

So i now have a plan for the summer, i know its ages away but thats when im most stuck for something to do. Right so im going to go to a scrap yard and get a boot light for that cable...then run speaker cables from the front to the back...

Also i'll try and get the remote central locking out...i'll have to stick with a key for now!

Thank you for your help, and im sure your see me around looking at what else i can put in my punto!!

Nooooooooooo....................not 6x9s! :yuck:

Welcome to FF anywho
