Hello all,
I'm Dan.
I just bought myself a Bravo (2 days ago!) after hearing good words about them from my mate who has a broom yellow 1.8 hlx. My new car is a V reg 1.2sx in light metallic blue and is spotless with no dents stone chips or anything with only 20k on the clock.
My previous car was a Fiat punto 75sx which i loved to bits and am a moderator for the puntosports club.
not so long ago I slid on black ice hitting a bank and rolling over twice totalling the car. hense the reason for a new car!
After only having it for a short while I cant really comment on how good it is but so far it has been excellent, fuel, ride etc is much better than my old punt.
one question I have to ask...
is it just my bravo or do you need to be going quite slow e.g less than 18mph to engage 2nd gear without making the gearbox grinding noise? I had this on my punto, short time later the clutch broke. any help will be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the forum dude! sounds pretty bad that accident, but something good always comes out of it - and you've got a bravo now so it's all good

i've got a 1.2, on a Y plate, but mine doesn't make a grinding noise when changing into 2nd, maybe others can relate to this...

where abouts are you from mate, sure we'll be organising another meet pretty soon

I'm from near Peterborough in cambridgeshire.
I get the grind when moving up from 1st to second after going up to maybe 3.5-4k revs in 1st. when I'm coming down the gears it just refuses to go into second until u slow right down.

I get that to aswel if i am in 3rd 4th 5th around 2k - 3k and you put your foot down i get a rattling sound have been told it is from the gearbox do you get the same noise this noise is from outside the car and not inside.

But i was told that it maybe the selector for first and second that is preventing me going into second unles you are slowing right down... Might be the same problem with yours.

no noise inside or out. strange. its just a bit of a nuisance when I pull away from junctions as I have to get into 2nd gear straight away. suppose if its not a serious problem I can get used to it. cheers,

Hi Dan - I've also got a 1.2 16V Bravo.

I orignally had this problem when engaging 2nd gear at around 4500rpm+ (22-24mph). Then 3 months down the line the gearbox went tits up! I've now got a Punto 60 Gearbox in my Bravo and when I engage 2nd gear well into the red line, guess what? no grinding!

Incidently I also had a 75sx. What a lovely car that was, until I smashed it up

cheers guys, will have to look into it at a later stage as i'm pretty skint after only just buying it!
Was sad to see the 75sx go, became very attached to it after doing all mods myself. colourcoding inside and out. never mind tho. start afresh.

2 different places mate, when I'm at my parents house: Eye and at the mrs: near stamford.
An eastern meet would be cool and I would deffo be up for it if other peeps are interested.
