HGT problem

Hi guys

My car has recently been pulling severely to the left when driving. I thought that it could be the tracking, but another interesting symptom is that the wheels seems "stuck" or sticking momentarily when I steer to the left. This is especially noticable when starting from cold. When the steering wheel is pulled to the left when stationary there is a definite sticking feel to it, but just the once, as the steering wheel feels free after that, however the car still pulls to the left when driving.

thanks for you ideas

I had this problem when I bought my 155.

The "sticking" issue was very slight, but the car pulled to the left more than it should.

Firstly I had the track rod-ends replaced (be sure your steering wheel is centralised if you have this done), then a fresh off-side tyre was bought. Toyo Proxes - this has cured the problem. Wheels and suspension as standard - you'll got even more problems if you fiddle too much.

Your machine hasn't been twatted and had a poor job done on a jig by any chance, has it?

Re: Re: HGT problem

ummm, sounds like the same symptoms

if my car has been twatted, it was before March '99 when I bought the car 8mths old. since then the xcar has had its springs changed to lower Eibachs but thats it. I severely potholed the driver side front on the motorway about a year ago and punctured my tyre as well as warping my alloy big time.....

so this track rod, how much is it, and how can I tell if mine need changing? should I change both?
also what is causing this "sticking"

cheers mate

Re: Re: Re: HGT problem

jack your car up and have a look at those track rods.
mind you, if your alignment has been done, this should have been noticed.

Have you checked the Brakes? My car once did that and it was the brakes

:)
