Currently considering my next car. I'm torn between either getting another Stilo or go back to my Puntos. Either way, I want something thats pretty quick off the mark. So I was considering either a remapped JTD (125+bhp 200+lbft) or the 1.8 petrol (HGT.) I'm not willing to pay the insurance on a Punto HGT, but quotes for the same engine in a Stilo were far more reasonable. So my choices are:
Punto JTD (Remapped)
Stilo JTD (Remapped)
Stilo 1.8
The JTDs are appealing to me because of the very low tax and excellent fuel economy, but are they going to be as fun to drive as the petrol? As for Punto vs Stilo, the only thing I miss about the punto is the handling... it was nippy and you could feel everything through the wheel. In the Stilo, the wheel is pretty much dead - you get barely any feedback from it at all and thats what made the Punto more fun to drive for me. Other than that though, I much prefer the Stilos looks (esp the 3dr) and its grip around bends is much better than a Punto. The interior is much roomier and looks much better aswell.
