does any1 know how strong the 147 internals are and weather the 20vt internals are interchangable if stronger because i had this crazy notion about supercharging i mean listen:

use turbo pistons and rank and head gasket buy a supercharger off a c class merc for £100 off ebay have the bespoke brakets made up and the inlet pipes custom made and same with intercooler and hey presto a fiat first lol

i know it aint that simple but if you think about it is doable and would be cheaper than 20vt conversion and probably as fast if not faster

just a thought but has it been done before? if not im sereusly thinking about trying it hey you never know until oyu try it lol

Supercharging is a better option for cheaper tuning and it's not as simple as just bolting one off a Merc however if you go down this route expect disaster. You could get away with it if you choose the correct charger and don't run more than 0.4Bar on standard internals. I reckon you could get away with just changing the headgasket to lower the CR but all this will cost. Just remember Tunning and Cheap NEVER work. Good Luck

what about using 2 head gasckets? would that lower comp and what sort of supercharger do you recomend its just i thought if i got 1 off a c180 it wouldnt be to powerfull for the car what do you think it could be done for a grand? sereusly?

To get things right it's just not that simple.
First you must get the compressor maps for the supercharger you want to use and study them as where the boost is produced and at what efficiently it runs at etc.

Using mathematic formulas you need to work out you desired CR using Vs, Bore, Stroke, and Vc and the boost you intend to run so that you can work out the correct CR. Once you have the correct CR and supercharger you want to run you need the VE of the cylinder head to work out how well it's going to flow together and make any mathematical adjustments.
Once you have this info you can work out the exact thickness your headgasket needs to be. You would then need someone to make a custom gasket to that size. You see it's not simple like chucking two gaskets together and using this charger off ebay cos it might work. Not to mention mounting the charger and working out the gearing. Also which charger are you going to use is it a Roots? Centrifugal? or Twin Screw?
This is just a scratch of the surface there are MANY more factors to consider e.g correct valve timing, engine management, intercooling etc.
It will work just chucking some parts together but expect you engine not to last long because if you can get the theory right you've got no chance.

lol ok ill stick to nos lol but ill keep it in mind when ive got sum money spare lol

i heard of a kid with a suzuki swift gti who stuck a turbo off a ldv van a waste gate off a meastro turbo the iter cooler and carb off a renault 5 turbo and a stand alone ecu and it makes over 200bhp now it was in a car mag or sumat and it got me thinking thats all

"i heard of a kid with a...."

Which usually means it didn't happen.

To get 20vt internals you will need to find a 20vt engine, and you might as well just use that.

Plus if you buy fast road cams for your HGT they will actually cost you power if you put forced induction on the engine.

Anything can work with anything as long as the theroy is correct.

Just to give you an idea of cost the live remap for a HGT is £450 + VAT so that's over half your budget gone. How much are them cams again?
