Hey - Hunting for a Panda

Hi, new around here!

On the lookout for a Panda 4x4.
Prefer a Mk3 (or earlier!) for the FIRE engine, as I’m hoping some of my 90s mechanic skills might resurface.

But … wondering if I’m missing a trick by not also considering a later TA model?!
(defo going petrol, never got on with diesel).

Looking forward to seeing some, buying one, and getting some solid knowledge & advice here on the forum.

Well, hopefully going to look at the first one this weekend…. Just reciting the mantra “look at a few before buying!” (will see how that goes)

Main issue with 4x4 seems to be rusty rear subframe, with virtually no replacements available

Also look out for knocking noises under the car, centre bearing replacement is not uncommon

1.2 FIRE is a tough reliable thing

Some owners very happy with their TwinAirs but expect higher running costs and make sure car has been well serviced, TA is oil critical

Subframe Rot | FIAT Panda (Mk3)

My 07 4x4 Panda developed a knock under relatively low lateral forces when cornering. Looking underneath revealed the horror show in the photos. I think that's the subframe? So, is a new one, or one from a breaker, required? Are these 4x4 specific? Cheers
