General Hesitant at high revs

Right,

my 1.4 16v Starjet is having a bit of an issue at the moment,

around 4,000rpm on slip roads or hard acceleration the car sometimes acts as if its hit the limiter and backs off despite having having the accelerator fully down.

I realise it normally loses torque at these rpm's, but its become more significant it recent days.

Its having a full service within the next week, so this could potentially solve the issue (dirty spark plugs.. etc)

But any other ideas?

Mine did that until I had the alternator replaced - was a nightmare before but now running sweet as you like. With all the rain, the alternator in mine was shot to pieces... might be worth a look!

Parked up, out of gear what does it red line to.
It should be around 6500 rpm i believe.
