My car has been running fine (M reg 1.6sie) until today, I jumped in to go to work and it sounds like a vw beetle. I have had a few suggestions as to what it could be but this has been the best place i have found to answer previous problems. So i have been told that it could be :
1 - Faulty ignition lead/plug
2 - Blocked or Broken cat
3 - One of the ignition coils breaking down
4 - Its a FIAT

The coil one is what has confused me most - does thew car have a dual coil system? If 1 or both are knackered hw much do they cost to replace?
BTW it now won't rev out and wont pull very well..or though it still runs.

THX in advance.

hard to tell.what sort of noise is it? does it mis-fire? if it sounds like a diesel, its proberly your exhaust manifold. :)

No it doesnt misfire...just struggles quite alot..thing is it was fine when i drove home from work on thursday. I have to say though it doesn sound like the exhaust is blowing so maybe it is the manifold. Once it stops raining ill check it out

I would have to disagree with you on that one mate. If the manifold has a crack/hole in it, it would make more like a farting noise probably accompanied with a loud ticking sound. I wouldn't say the car would struggle as much as rickeb says. Without hearing it running, I'd be temted to say that one of the plug leads has gone faulty.

this is like asking how long tyres will last on a car.without all relevent info, its hard to diagnose.a simple leak around the manifold or a blocked cat can do this.TPS could be faulty.coil problem,HT problem, mass meter.and lots more.i think this needs to be looked at.where abouts are you so perhaps a local place can check it out.? :)
